White-tailed deer fawn

Reveler Conservation Area

This youngster, about the size of Sasha, ran out of the bush ahead of us and then stopped and looked back. Clearly curious, she circled around behind some tall vegetation and then came straight toward us, getting within about 50 feet. The encounter lasted about 10 minutes before she ran off. Meanwhile, Sasha sat at my feet, completely unmoving, but fixated on the fawn. She never made any attempt to chase it or even show interest. What a good dog!
