The Asteroid caterpillar (Cucullia asteroides), #10200

Reveler Conservation Area

Sometimes called the Goldenrod Caterpillar as it is usually found on goldenrods and asters. This one is on a goldenrod. It is so well camouflaged that I didn't notice it for some time, despite standing and staring at the goldenrods in that small area.

Well camouflaged indeed. I had to take in the detail before I found its head!

Definitely an expert at camouflage (except for the white dots!)

C'est une magnifique macro. Les détailles et la position de la chenille sont superbes.
