We visited this site over 40 years ago. At the time it was not a big tourist destination for it was only just beginning to be known, hence we saw not one other soul for the entire day we spent there. This photo was taken from the top of one of the tallest structures being uncovered. Looking at recent photos of this same scene I can see how different things are now. For one thing, the steps up to the building on the left have all been uncovered, and wide pathways encircle each building, and the ground in front is now smooth and free of rubble and vegetation. At least the jungle still seems to come up close to the site now as then. I have to say, I prefer it the way it was!! Another old print, wrinkled and worn, digitized for use here.
