Another old photo from Mexico. One of the few crops grown where we were staying was sugar cane (the others were beans, coffee and corn). Here the extract of the sugar cane is being boiled down. All the crops were grown for use in the small village, and formed the basis of the daily diet which was usually tortillas, beans and coffee three times a day. On the rare occasion when they acquired a cow, milk was added to the coffee.
