Mexico - 1969

Another old photo from Mexico. One of the few crops grown where we were staying was sugar cane (the others were beans, coffee and corn). Here the extract of the sugar cane is being boiled down. All the crops were grown for use in the small village, and formed the basis of the daily diet which was usually tortillas, beans and coffee three times a day. On the rare occasion when they acquired a cow, milk was added to the coffee.

a 'time capsule' shot. 1969 marked my first trip abroad - the north French coast is less than 100 miles away as the crow flies, so not as exotic as Mexico!
