Firefly (Photinus) sp.)

Reveler Conservation Area

This is not a fly, it is a beetle, and it is the little insect that emits light on hot summer nights: the firefly. Also sometimes called lightning bug.

You learn something new everyday - hopefully. I had no idea they were beetles. Stellar capture of this one in a perfectly complimentary setting. Wonderful color and detail ~VVV~

Thank you for setting me straight. I didn't know that fireflies were beetles! They remind me of sunflower seeds.

looks modest enough, yet what a great light show they can produce....the beetle is well defined in your fine shot..
