Many caterpillars fall prey to predatory stinkbugs. If the birds don't find them, they have to worry about the predatory bugs, or spiders, or.... These stinkbugs especially like tent caterpillars, so if you have problems with tent caterpillars, a few of these stinkbugs will help! They do not go after plants, only insects, mainly caterpillars. You can see the long proboscis here... stinkbugs do not chomp away on food, they suck out the soft innards.

That caterpillar looks a little "old" but I guess it's tasty to the stink bug...
