Treehopper (Telamona excelsa), nymph

Reveler Conservation Area

This little creature was on a bitternut hickory branch just above my head. I was alerted to its presence when I saw some ants looking very busy! Ants on trees or shrubs are often a good indication that something interesting is around, even if you have to look very hard to find it, as I did. Also called Telamona unicolor.

Judging by the shape (and not that I'm an expert) it may be a very old species. Great eye Christine. V

If anyone knows how to find something interesting, it is you. What a fascinating image of this mysterious looking creature. "V"

What an interesting looking insect, with an appropriately interesting name. Well spotted and captured, Christine. V.
