Treehoppers (Membracidae)

Treehoppers are strikingly lovely and fascinating little bugs. In the tropics they come in a dazzling variety of shapes, colours and patterns. Up here in Ontario, they are mostly shades of brown and beige, though some of the Ceresa species are a lovely green. In Southern Ontario, there is a gorgeous multicoloured treehopper that associates with oak trees. Sadly, we don't get them around Ottawa, too far north, too cold.

New images are at the beginning.
