Ruby quaker moth caterpillar (Orthosia rubescens), #10487

Reveler Conservation Area

An attractive caterpillar found on a buckthorn shrub. According to images on Bug Guide, this caterpillar varies widely and wildly in colour and pattern. The caterpillars feed on a variety of trees including plum, maple, and oak.
