Woody underwing (Catocala grynea), #8864

In my garden. This very tattered underwing moth was only seen for a few minutes before it flew off. The larval host plants are apples, plums and hawthorns. We have an apple tree overhanging the garden, and a few small plum saplings.

Yet another fascinating looking moth! Despite the tattering, still lovely pattern and color. V.

It seems to be at odds with its dress, couldn't decide what to wear :). Great eye! V

it does look on it's last wings...such a fragile beauty, and fabulous colouring...with your plums you might see more of them in the future..
