Hitched arches (Melanchra adjuncta), #10292

Feeding on the underside of a purple-flowering raspberry leaf near Green's Creek. These caterpillars come in two colour forms, green, and as here, brown. They are relatively common and I find them almost more often than any other caterpillar. They turn into a handsome black, gray and white moth.

Excellent photo; love the dead-leaf brown patterning in this guy. But maybe the green form would be better camouflaged!
