Early Zanclognatha? (Zanclognatha cruralis), #8351

Reveler Conservation Area

This very small caterpillar immediately curled up and played dead when I touched the leaf. This species is in the Noctuidae family, and in the subfamily called Litter Moths, presumably because they are often found on or close to the leaf litter on the forest floor.

I always wondered why some of them curl up. Great detail. V.
