Red-crossed button slug caterpillar (Tortricidia pallida), #4653

I put this caterpillar on my finger to give an indication of how small it is. The colour mimics dead patches in vegetation. For example, on the same basswood leaf that it was on, there were many patches of dead tissue of the same colour!
