Chilocorus pupae (Chilocorus)

Reveler Conservation Area. These spiny little creatures, plus 8 more, were found on a maple tree trunk. According to Bug Guide these are the pupae of the Chilocorus ladybeetle, a small black beetle with two red spots. The pupae are encased in the last larval skin, which has split down the middle allowing the pupae to form.
