Smartweed caterpillar (Acronicta oblinita), #9272

Larose Forest. This tiny caterpillar, a very early instar, was found on purple loosestrife. As an adult (moth), it goes by the name of Smeared Dagger Moth! And as a caterpillar, it is exceptionally variable in colour.
