Mottled tortoise beetle (Deloyala guttata)

Whenever I see a stand of morning glories growing wild, I can't help stopping to look for tortoise beetles, which fascinate me. I found dozens of the tiny larvae but no adults until I looked at the nearby wild raspberry shrub. There was one adult mottled tortoise beetle, glistening in the sunlight as it sat on the raspberry flowerhead.

Interestingly patterned "tortoise shell". It never ceases to amaze me how many insects you can identify.
