Eight-spotted forester moth (Alypia octomaculata), #9314

Found a patch of wild growing goutweed. This is a pretty day-flying moth, whose caterpillar is equally spectacular and more colourful.

it is a beauty...the spots seem random in shape, so there could be many subtle design variations...love the orange leg-warmers..

Eight is great and nine would be fine, but perfect as is this moth flitting on goutweed. V
