Green lacewing eggs (Chrysoperla sp.)

Larose Forest. I placed my knapsack under the leaf to provide some contrast so that the eggs would show up better. Otherwise they are nearly invisible (and minute). The adult lacewing http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/113759585) is a lovely delicate creature, and the larva is a fierce predator of aphids and other garden 'pests' http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/144662987), which is why green lacewings are used for a more natural form of insect control.

Wonderful find and capture, Christine, as were the photos of the adult and the larva. Finding and photographing these eggs took skill and dedication. Vote.

Rather literally "hanging by a thread", but perhaps actually quite secure. Fascinating.

They are just amazing being so tiny and hanging like that. V.

they certainly dangle by a thread in the egg stage...enthralling reality, and resourcefully photographed...V

Fantastic! I love those little lacewings. I often catch them in the house and take them out where I'm sure they are much happier. :-)
