Pleasing fungus beetles (Triplax)

Sandhills

This is only part of a larger cluster of Triplax beetles found on some Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus) on a tree trunk. When I tried to take photos, they scuttled off the mushrooms and tried to hide in this small hole in the tree. They are about 5-6mm in size.

Excellent find and shot, Christine.
I sometimes wonder who made up these names - Pleasing fungus beetles and Handsome fungus beetles....

They're not hiding very well. Super detailed capture. V.
