Widefooted Treehopper (Enchenopa latipes)

Ottawa East

It was a three treehopper day on my walk. This is the first species I found, and one that is, I think, a very cool looking insect. That thorn-like projection does look just like a thorn on a twig when this insect is on a shrub, rather than on a wildflower as here.
