Hover fly (Allograpta obliqua)

Found on a nannyberry shrub in the vicinity of Mer Bleue Bog. This is one of many, many different species of hover flies (Syrphidae) found in our area. Many hover flies are useful as pollinators, and in their larval stage, as predators of aphids.
