Hover fly (Rhingia sp.)

I photographed this fly several years ago. Update: Thanks to Bug Guide's terrific entomologists, I have just discovered that this is a hover fly (Syrphid) in the genus Rhingia, and probably Rhingia nasica. The long snout is apparently distinctive for this genus.
