Fruit fly (Icterica seriata)

Many of the flies in the family Tephritidae (Fruit flies), are brightly coloured, with vivid eyes. The species pictured here, is closely associated with Bidens plants, as the larvae feed on Bidens flowers. This one is quite large, for a fruit fly.
