Blue dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis), female

This female is perced on some viper's bugloss (Echium vulgare), near the Ottawa River in the area of Shirleys Bay. These blue dashers were unknown in the area until 2010. Then in 2011, they were seen in great numbers along the river, in the east end of Ottawa. This year, they are not only back there, but in other locations as well. An interesting situation and one that bears watching in the next few years.

The result of climatic change. In Belgium we also see species moving up from the South and other going more North.
