Red squirrel

Photographed on a walk through Rockcliffe Park today. There were a number of reds around, as well as any number of grey squirrels. It is always amusing to watch the way the reds terrorize the much larger grey squirrels who seem petrified of these feisty little guys. They may be small, but they can more than hold their own. Unlike in Europe, where the European red squirrel is not used to dealing with "our" greys.

Not only is this little guy adorable and well-framed by the trees, but your treatment of this photo is superb! Very subtle... and very effective! What a beautiful card this would make! V

Sweet fellow with that red fur looking "electrified" against the white snow.

|Interesting commentary, in our city, the Greys have pushed the Reds out and it's not often you see one of these wee ones. Since the Reds are a native species and the Greys aren't, it's legal to get rid of them.

Cute pose; very 'Canadian' framing too :)

I remember, years ago, the reds were dwindling in population as compared to the greys - good to see a rebound.

My first comment when I saw the thumbnail was it looks like you have a cute photo of a red in the snow and then I saw your frame and thought WOW, now that makes the shot! Two thumbs up for this one...one for the squirrel shot and the other for the frame!
