Pitcher plant seedhead (Sarracenia purpurea)

From these seeds will come new plants. This species is a carnivorous plant, found in bogs. It entices insects into its 'pitcher' and then eats them (actually, the insect dissolves at the bottom of the tube and the liquid is absorbed by the plant)! The water-filled pitcher or tube, is called a pitfall trap, a very appropriate name!
