Photographed in a local bog. This is a carnivorous plant that entices insects into its 'pitcher' and then eats them (actually, the insect dissolves at the bottom of the tube and the liquid is absorbed by the plant)! The water-filled pitcher or tube, is called a pitfall trap, a very appropriate name! You can see the hairs on the inside of the plant. These are positioned such that an insect cannot crawl back up the plant.
