Common looper moth (Autographa precationis), #8908?

Beechwood Cemetery

Or Soybean Looper?? Another moth in the Noctuidae Family, found today on common burdock. This one was attached by one leg so it was a bit easier to free him, but still, a delicate operation! You can see the hundreds of little hooks the seedhead has. Anyone with a dog will know how tenaciously these burs cling to dog coats. Apparently, the person who invented velcro got the idea after disentangling himself from a cluster of burdock seeds. Or so the story goes.
