Mating monarch butterflies

Taken a few years ago at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, during a year when monarchs were quite abundant. Since then, we've seen fewer and fewer, and this year, they've been very scarce in the area, and indeed, throughout most of their range.

This is a new one to me! I had better be more watchful.

This is neat! I have never seen Monarchs mating before. I do remember 2007 as being the last year when Monarchs were common and widespread. Their noticeable decline is very concerning.
