Fruit fly Strauzia longipennis sp.

At home

The fruit fly family (Tephritidae) contains some of the prettiest, most colourful little flies. They are common but so small that they can be hard to see and photograph. This was in my garden.

These are pretty flies. I have these hanging around here, see them all the time, and am impressed with this photo knowing well how small...actually how TINY for a better word...they are.

Great colouration on this wee little fellow; we all barely, if at all, notice.

I guess we never really see them because of their size, nice eyes. Great capture.
