Hummingbird moth (Hemaris thysbe) at common milkweed

I was beginning to wonder if I would see any of my favourite moths, the Hummingbird Moth, when this one appeared in front of me and proceeded to nectar on the newly opened milkweed for quite some time. These are very large moths and they have often fooled me and others into thinking a hummingbird has just zipped past! They hover in flight while nectaring, just as hummingbirds do. Not very moth-like are they!!
