Mourning cloak (Nymphalis antiopa)

It is all in the perspective when butterfly watching! This was my first Mourning Cloak of the year, found in a west end wooded area. These butterflies, along with several other species of Anglewings, overwinter as adults under the bark of trees or in some other protected place. As soon as the weather warms up, they emerge. If it gets cold again, they'll seek shelter again until the next warm spell. Today, the temperature reached about +14 celsius, and it was sunny, so the butterflies decided it was time to emerge. I saw two of these guys, plus an Eastern Comma and a Cabbage White.
