Polypore (Inocutis rheades)

Found on an Ironwood tree. Polypores are one of the mushroom groups that are often visible all winter. These "wood-rotting fungi" are an invaluable part of forest ecosystems, helping dead trees to break down and return to the soil. This is a simplistic explanation. Their role is much more complex than that.
