Great blue heron by larose forest photos

In the Arboretum. I was struck by the way the long slender neck of this heron mimicked the tree trunk next to it.

Look at that long thin neck! Kind of looks like a rebel heron with the unruly plumes on his head and the breeding plumes that look kind of like a pony tail. All he is missing is the bandanna!
