Lance-tipped darner (Aeshna constricta) ovipositing

Fletcher Wildlife Garden. Many dragonflies oviposit (lay eggs) by dipping the tip of their abdomen in the water. This species inserts her ovipositor into waterside vegetation and lays her eggs there.
