I too like the composition. I think you may have been going for deep and moody. I kind of think the image needs just a touch of Levels adjustment to broaden the range in tones. Again, I do like the composition.
Nicely composed...the shadow seemed a little distracting, at first. But after looking again it does add to the picture. Like stripes on a soldier's sleeve.
