I love the way you have structured this image, Lara. The fence rail pulls the eye in from the lower right hand corner and leads us diagonally into the image. There is a lightness to her step as well, as her right foot lifts to echo the thrust of the fence. Where is she going? Is she lonely or happy? We will never know. But we do know that she is entering the fragile, delicate world of nature that envelopes. A beautiful, almost poetic image. But I have to agree with Lisa's comment -- the grain to me gets in the way of meaning. It does not say loneliness to me at all. It says "look what the photographer has deliberately done to this picture to get a clever effect" and thereby takes away much of its meaning and impact. I am a purist, Lara -- which means I want images to speak for themselves. Anything that gets in the way of that is a distraction to me, and I feel tht the photoshop grain overlay is such a distraction. It obscures, rather than helps the story get through. I do like your conversion to black and white, however -- it moves the image away from literal description, and hones it down to its essence. If you have a version of this image without the grain in it, it would be a very effective expression of what nature can mean to mankind.

Is this the trail along the Hudson River? It looked like a great escape from the city. Peaceful scene here. The "grain" softens nicely.

this worked out well .. B&W was a good choice . .I like the person's stance, All the lines in the path & trees lead you to her

nice use of black and white....the grain to me is a bit much...but it's still nice.

hi there! Nice texture here. Looks like there should be a Robert Frost poem with this. Where was Dolly?
