A Kiss is Just a Kiss.jpg

In my rush this morning to get out of my apartment, I grabbed my Rebel but left the memory card behind. So I pulled this one out of my "archives". This is ny friend Mark at a famous Toy Store in New York. I had asked him to pose for me for a B&W photo class, I think it was 2 years ago. He ended up having more fun than any kid in that store.

Kodak Tri-X Pan

other sizes: small medium original auto

I used to Tri-X for my B&W shots...Now, It's rarely when I work with films. Digital is so easy!

Yes your friend is a cutie pie Lara. However it is a heartwarming photograph that as adults we still love things with childlike wonder.

Cute. I "shot" some B&W film today, but no Tri-X.

I thought maybe it was when I first saw this... something about the tones of his skin looked sooo much like how Tri-X handles skin tones, and the rest of it too. Well between this week, and seeing this shot, I'm going to have to get out my EOS 3 and some Tri-X and go shooting!! I haven't shot a roll of B&W in a while and it will feel good :D Thanks for the reminder of how much I love that film!

it was of course Kodak Tri-X Pan.

Out of curiousity, do you remember what kind of film this was??
Guest 26-Feb-2004 02:16
Yea, I agree with you, which is why all of mine have a slight sepia toning to them.. I just can't do straight B&W with digital. After experimenting a couple of years ago with the wonders of Ilford HP5 and Kodak Tri-X, there's simply no comparision to those. The tones in this just scream perfectly exposed B&W film, it's just wonderful!! -- angela :)

Funny that you mention film. I think that one of the reasons I pulled this print out was because I so prefer taking Black and White photos with regular film than digital. I guess that's why I'm having a hard time with this project.

This was film right? I thought so, the beautiful tonal range and quality totally gave it away :) There's nothing in the world like B&W film, I just love it. Absolutely an ADORABLE shot here!!! I love the pose coupled with all of the "onlookers" in the background!! Beautiful shot! -- angela :)
