Karen, we drove with guides this morning to the general area where the chimps had been the previous day and then guides tracked the chimps, mostly by noise. a group of maybe 10 or 12 chimps were high in the canopy and we waited about 45 minutes for them to come down. when they did we followed them on foot about a hundred yards to these low trees where we photographed them for a good half hour. Not tame but acclimated to people the were obliging models.

Beautiful individual portraits. Were you in a vehicle, on foot, or were the chimps in enclosures?

After looking at these guys and seeing how expressive they are I can understand how Jane Goodall was so enthralled by them.
