Flesh Footed Shearwater or "Muttonbird". These birds dig a burrow up to 4mts long in the sand.
They leave their nests before dawn to fish offshore and return at dusk and after a "crash landing" which looks more accidental than planned and then waddle through the forest to their burrow.
