There are a number of small settlements along the lower Hawkesbury River that are accessible only by water. A ferry visits these communities on weekdays to deliver mail and supplies and to give tourists an enjoyable cruise along a beautiful estuary. Some of these pictures were taken on such a cruise in the company of my daughter #1 in 2008. The later pictures are from a 2017 trip with my wife Frances and friends visiting from Ireland. There was a better boat then, with a licensed bar, a good lunch, and a better commentary, but the river hasn't changed much in nine years. Another trip planned in November 2025.
