The Siver City Highway runs north from the Victorian border through the "silver city" of Broken Hill, then through vast spaces to the Queensland border, with just one petrol stop, then the small settlements of Milparinka and Tibooburra, total population about 200. Milparinka is an old mining town, just off the highway, with the remains of substantial stone buildings and a pub.
