Henri Van de Velde was wealthy. He wanted a new building for his Feltex
business in Sydney. He bought a lovely bank building of classical design,
demolished it, and built a very ordinary forgettable building on the site.
But he salvaged this bit from the entrance of the old building, and had it
re-erected here as the backdrop or centrepiece of his outdoor stage.
