Most ruins haven't just fallen down with age: people have used them as a source of free
building materials or vandalised them. In the case of these buildings, once occupied by
managers and staff of the original copper mines, they were blown up as a show for the locals
when the open cut mine was being expanded; the houses were right on the edge of the open cut.
