Too much food

Meal for seven, Chongqing

When I was a small child (in the 1930s), mothers would scold their children for not
eating their food or for wasting it, saying "Think of the starving millions in China."
I was repeatedly reminded of this during our tour of China, when we were routinely
overfed. Once, earlier in the tour, we dared to send back a soup course as unnecessary.
After the fuss that caused, we resolved, in the interests of a continuing harmonious
relationship between Australia and China, to do our best when faced with a meal like this.
