Rainbow Valley is not a valley at all: it is a claypan with a magnificent rocky outcrop behind it.
It makes a wonderful setting for dramatic TV commercials despite its remote location, well off
the main highway, along a very sandy unsignposted road. It is unsignposted for a reason, I was told;
Too many motorists and other insensitive people were visiting Rainbow Valley,
so the sign at the turnoff was taken away to make the place harder to find.
