Mount Hay is one of a few basalt-capped peaks in the otherwise sandstone Blue Mountains plateau. You can drive
to the point where this picture was taken along a fairly rough road from Leura. Any further, you must walk.
The foreground shows the effect of a recent fire. The distant horizon on the right is about where Sydney is.
