Each year for the past three, these Blue Herons visit one of our upstairs balconies & pergola roof. They fly in just as daylight arrives ...6 am today & commence to call loudly & strut noisily...that sleep-in I planned was soon shelved.
I have created a gallery I would love you to visit just to see the difficulty I had through halfclosed eyes trying to get some half decent shots through glass & wire screen.

I know they will be back so plan to continue trying for better quality.

To everyone who left messages & pmailed yesterday, I thank you all.

I voted for this outstanding image, too. Hard to believe it was taken through glass or wire. Maybe we all ought to try that.

These are so beautiful! You have some wonderful views and wildlife there.

funny pose! what wonderful plumage they have with that dusky blue/grey.
Karen Stuebing31-Jul-2005 15:36
Beautiful light and I love the way it's soft and sharp at the same time. You can see the detail of each feather. And the way they're staring in opposite directions like bookends is really awesome.

Fantastic! We had a huge flock nesting down on Balboa Island in May & June and so enjoyed watching them. But, they sure are loud and messy! So worth it, though. What a great capture here.

Bravo! I voted.

Magnificent capture... I really enjoy how the birds are looking on both directions. It gives this image great balance. On my monitor the image is a tad dark a little levels adjustment might do the trick. This is one of your better shot IMO. (GMV)
