R.I.P. H.M.S.Bounty

A sad ending to a glorious ship.
Today this beautiful ship was a casualty of hurricane Sandy and now lies at the bottom of the Atlantic. two crew members are still missing...
This photo I took a few years ago on her visit to Victoria.

The ship, built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for the 1962 Mutiny on the Bounty movie was an enlarged replica of the famous British warship seized by mutineers in 1789 in Tahiti.
The 55-metre, 400-tonne replica vessel has appeared in many documentaries and the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

I went on a sail on the HMS Bounty. Such a shame and RIP.....beautiful capture of her!

CORRECTION on my comment below Jess. My husband said he worked on the Beaver not the Bounty. He said the Bounty was build with such excellent standard that while being an apprentice shipwright he would never have touched her. He was in awe of her workmanship. What a sad loss, crew and vessel.

I did not know the end had come for that beautiful ship.
When my husband was a shipwright
he did some work on her many years ago.
Lovely image and hope for good new on the missing crew.
