Taken while paddleboarding in the morning at Lakes Bay, a saltwater bay in southern New Jersey that is lined by grassy marshland. I paddled across the water, a mile from the put-in, then sat on my board, got my camera from a dry bag, and closely followed the grass for coverage. By drifting silently, I got close to the shore birds, mostly seagulls on the water and cranes overhead.
